A pregnant dog who was shot 17 times and had her ear amputated has been certified as a therapy dog

They say there’s a lot to learn from animals, and that our canine companions can teach us lessons we might not have learned otherwise.

One incredible dog named Maggie appears to support that theory. This dog has been through more than most people would in ten lifetimes at the age of five.

She went viral after being discovered in Lebanon with her eyes shot out, one ear severed, and her jaw broken. Maggie was shot 17 times before being dumped on the streets, according to reports. She was also pregnant at the time she was discovered.

Maggie’s story, thankfully, was far from over. She was rescued by the Wild At Heart Foundation and eventually adopted by Kasey, an animal lover, and relocated to Brighton, UK.

Kasey became a therapy dog despite the trauma she had endured and the unimaginable pain she must have felt. Today, she has a sizable Instagram following.

This person in Lebanon posted asking for help and a woman in London saw the post and got help,” Kasey told The Argus.

“Wild At Heart said they would take her in, even though it’s quite hard to get pets out of Lebanon.”

“My mum saw Maggie’s post and said we had to foster her.”

“I got home and saw the picture and agreed.”

Maggie was able to leave Lebanon after a six-month online campaign, and she is now thriving. Maggie, who has 80,000 social media followers, travels to hospitals, nursing homes, and universities to help others heal and provide care.

Maggie is a certified therapy dog with Underdog International after passing the necessary exams.

“She and I will speak to schools and work hands-on with youngsters,” Kasey said.

“I know what happened to Maggie was horrendous but if her story can educate and inspire others to do good then at least we can do our part to make this world a little brighter.”
